Local Runner and Tri-Athlete Dr. James Warmbrod Attends Orthopedic Conference for Active Mature Adults

(Jackson, TN) The Jackson Clinic's Dr. James G. Warmbrod, Orthopedic Surgeon, recently attended a conference outlining the effects of aging on adult athletes' bodies. Dr. Warmbrod identifies with the targeted age group saying, "I am active for my age (65). I compete in triathlons and run half marathons."

Dr. Warmbrod attended the conference entitled, 'AAOS Boomeritis®: Musculoskeletal Care for the Mature Athlete" on March 27-29, 2009. The program catered to mature athletes counseling them on specific age-related changes in the body related to participation in sports. It also explored treatment plans for baby-boomer athletes with current arthritic, traumatic, or degenerative conditions.

Dr. Warmbrod received his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana, attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Science and completed his residency in orthopedics at The University of Alabama - Birmingham. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) who hosted the conference.
