Condolences from the Jackson Clinic

The Physicians and Staff of The Jackson Clinic Professional Association are saddened at the sudden death of our colleague and friend, Doctor (Benjamin) Rush Shellabarger. Doctor Shellabarger joined the medical staff of The Clinic in June 2008, and he quickly established a reputation as an excellent and compassionate physician, popular with patients and highly valued as a key member of The Clinic’s growing Family Practice Department. Without question, he showed the promise of a long and very successful professional career. All of us – patients, staff and fellow physicians – have suffered a terrible loss.

Doctor Shellabarger was a native West Tennessean with strong roots in this area. He received Bachelors of Science degrees in biology and chemistry from University of Mississippi and Union University, respectively, and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Tennessee in 2004. In Spring 2008 he completed his residency in Family Practice at the University of Tennessee’s program in Jackson, and shortly thereafter he earned his board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine.

Doctor Shellabarger had chosen to build his medical career in Jackson, near his family and his friends. These good people are grieving now, and their pain at this tragic loss is understandable. We pray that our merciful and loving God will shower Doctor Shellabarger’s family and friends with comfort, peace and every blessing in the days ahead.
